Newsweek turns Bible on its head

(BP)–Newsweek magazine, one of the most influential news magazines in America, has decided to come out for “same-sex marriage” in a big way, and to do so by means of a biblical and theological argument. In its latest cover story, “The Religious Case for Gay Marriage,” Newsweek religion editor Lisa Miller offers a revisionist argument for the acceptance of “same-sex marriage.” It is fair to say that Newsweek has gone for broke on this question.

Saudi official kills own daughter for conversion to Christianity

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (BP)–A government official in Saudi Arabia cut out his daughter’s tongue and burned her to death after learning she had become a follower of Jesus Christ. The man, who was not named in the news report, works for the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, a government agency that enforces religious purity.

Adoniram Judson (1788 – 1850): Perseverance through Suffering

Not far from a huge statue of Buddha, Adoniram Judson led a local man named Maung Nau down into a Rangoon pond until they were waist deep. “A wondering crowd of gaily clad Burmans watched from the hill above.”1 On the basis of Maung Nau’s written testimony that he was “taking refuge in the merits of the Lord Jesus Christ,”2 Judson baptized this poor, 35-year-old timber worker. And this was no ordinary baptism; after severn years of service in South Asia, Nau was the missionary’s very first convert to Christ. The date was June 27, 1819.
