The First Baptist Church of Perryville congratulates Tyler Weber for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Less than four percent of those who enter scouting ever reach the rank of eagle.  It must be completed before their 18th birthday, usually requiring five to seven years. Tyler demonstrated remarkable commitment and dedication in doing so in slightly less than three years!

Tyler Weber is an eight grader at Perryville Middle School in Cecil County.  Tyler has been involved with scouting six years. He started as a cub scout back in February 2002 with Pack 67 in Fort Irwin, California.  He transferred to Pack 924 from Aberdeen Proving Ground, and then transferred to Pack 331 in Perryville.  He advanced through the ranks earning his Arrow of Light and crossing over to Boy Scouts with Troop 144 also of Perryville.

Tyler has recently been very involved with the community of Perryville by starting an Eagle project at the Perryville Boat ramp.  The boat ramp had an area of approximately 14,000 square feet of brush, trees, and briers’ that needed to be cleared adjacent to the parking lot.  With the area cleared it will be a future extension of the parking lot allowing for more vehicles and boats to utilize the boat ramp or residents to park and enjoy the view of the river.

This project could not have been completed without the help of his fellow scouts and dedicated volunteers which vested over 280 project hours.  Tyler had over 45 hours in which he planned and carried out the project.  There were a total of 32 scouts and volunteers involved in accomplishing this mission in less than three Saturdays using a variety of heavy duty lawn tools and home gardening tools.  On May 19, 2008 Tyler successfully earned his Eagle Scout rank at his board of review in Perryville.

Tyler’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor was held on August 9th, 2008 at Tyler’s church home, the First Baptist Church of Perryville.  All joined in to congratulate Tyler on his remarkable achievement!
