A PARENT’S GUIDE TO V.B.S.

AGE: Classes are for all ages including adults. Those attending the adult class may sign up four year olds and younger for a preschool class or nursery.

TIME: Arrive anytime after 6:10pm. You will be directed to the registration/welcome area in the parking lot behind the church where classes will assemble. The rally begins at 6:30pm. All classes dismiss at 9pm. Parents report to the fellowship hall to pick up children 1^st grade and older. Kindergarten and younger will be picked up at their rooms.

DRESS: Casual. Children have active recreational times. Sneakers are safer than sandals or high heels.

GUESTS: Students are encouraged to bring their friends.

CLASSES: School age students are assigned by what grade they have just completed in school. Students are not permitted to choose which class they wish to attend so they might be with neighbors or relatives. Every class has education and activities designed for one specific age range. Parents are welcome to stay with toddlers until they become comfortable with new faces.

SCRIPTURE MEMORY: Each night students will have a verse from scripture (length varies by age) that they may memorize to earn Game Day “dollars.”

ADULT CLASSES: Interested in spiritual things? The adult class will be learning what the Bible says about the different aspects of who God is. Bring a Bible or use ours. You may join in the discussion or simply listen and learn. No one is embarrassed by asking them to read out loud or to answer questions. You do not need to already know the Bible.

OFFERING: An opportunity will be provided each evening to give toward this year’s V.B.S. mission project.  Projects have varied from work in local prisons, to helping children in inner city Baltimore or the Mexican mountains, introducing female Bulgarian athletes to the difference Christ can make in their lives, or providing school books for poor children in East Java, Indonesia.

The cost of V.B.S. is a gift from our church family to you. The offering is an opportunity to teach generosity and to show love to those who desperately need it.

V.B.S.: V.B.S. is the abbreviation for Vacation Bible School.
