open Bible.jpg  The next Bible study methods class for men will be 7 AM, Saturday, May 30, 2009 at the First Baptist Church of Perryville, MD. Even if you do not come to the study, you can learn and practice this method to grow and stay fresh in your study. Men can come without doing the assignment and still learn. But you will learn more if you take the time to study and practice this method. The assignment for the next class is to study a Bible doctrine (a teaching of the Bible on a specific subject).

Here is the assignment:

Bible Doctrine Study   Regeneration (being born anew)
You could use a concordance to look up every occurrence of this phrase. Or you may use the following verses which are grouped with similar verses for your study.

1. Read Jesus’ explanation to Nicodemus: John 3:3-8. Summarize what Jesus teaches in one sentence.

2. Read John 1:12-13, 6:63-64. In one or two sentences write what each adds to your understanding of John 3.

3. Read II Corinthians 5:17. In one sentence write what this adds to your understanding.

4. Read I Peter 1:23. In one sentence write what this adds to your understanding.

5. Are there any other verses you can find that might help to understand being born anew (regeneration)? Ask a family member, Sunday School teacher, or someone else for verses on the topic if you wish. Give them time to study their Bible and get back to you if they do not have the references memorized.

6. Write down one or two sentences about what the Bible teaches on regeneration. Do not base it on what you have heard others say. Base it on the verses you have studied in God’s Word.

7. See what others have learned at our next class.

The training and discussion will be led by Dr. Gauger, pastor at the First Baptist Church of Perryville, MD. The First Baptist Church is located in Cecil County, on Route 40, 1 1/2 miles east of Route 222. The church is across Route 40 from the new built Principio Health Center.

The Bible study will be held at the church in the back classroom on the second floor. Easiest access is to drive around the building to the back parking lot. Use the back door. The main entrance will also be open. Bring your Bible, a pen or pencil, and your notes or paper to take down what you learn. Dress is casual. The study will last about an hour, but the pastor will stay longer for any with additional questions.
