The next Bible study methods class for men will be 7 AM, Saturday, October 27, 2007 at the First Baptist Church of Perryville, MD.

We continue to study various methods of studying the Bible so we may better understand God’s Word. To learn more about studying the Bible, we will use:
Bible study methods: PEARL PENETRATION

The assignment for our next class is to practice the Pearl Penetration method of
Bible study. This method is great for emphasizing meditation on verses that stand out as “pearls”. It helps a memory verse come alive or prepares a verse for memory.

Even if you do not come to the study, you can learn and practice this method to grow and stay fresh in your study. Men can come without doing the assignment and still learn. But you will learn more if you take the time to study and practice this method.

Here is the assignment:

1. Select a key verse from a larger passage you have been studying. I Corinthians 10:13 has been selected for us to study. Study the paragraphs around verse thirteen so you understand the context.

2. Meditate on the verse (that means to take time, perhaps on more than one occasion to think about what it means and its application to you) noticing what each word adds to the meaning of the verse.

3. During and after meditation, write down each truth you see from what your meditation on the verse.

4. Write personal applications from some or all of these truths.

You will grow in your ability to study and learn much more by trying. Give it a try and see what you come up with.

The training and discussion will be led by Dr. Gauger at the First Baptist Church of Perryville, MD. The First Baptist Church is located in Cecil County, on Route 40, 1 1/2 miles east of Route 222. The Bible study will be held in the back classroom on the second floor. Park near the back door or use the main entrance. Bring your Bible, a pen or pencil, and your notes or paper to take down what you learn. Dress is casual. The study will last about an hour, but the pastor will stay over for any with additional questions.
