The next Bible study methods class for men will be 7 AM, Saturday, August 25 at the First Baptist Church of Perryville, MD. We continue to study various methods of studying the Bible so we may better understand God’s Word.

The assignment for next class is to practice the subject search method of
Bible study. This teaches you how to develop a biblical theology. Even if you do not come to the study, you can learn and practice this method to grow and stay fresh in your study. Men can come without doing the assignment and still learn. But you will learn more if you take the time to study and practice this method.

Here is the assignment:

Subject search is good for variety and giving scriptural foundation to doctrinal teaching. It helps develop sensitivity to each word and concept. It works well in passages that are heavily doctrinal. Read Galatians 1:1-17
1. Pretend the passage we are studying is the only information we have on biblical theology.

2. Write down on the left side of a page or screen a list of subjects that you will look for in the study: Bible, God, God the Father, Jesus Christ, Holy Spirit, Salvation, Christian life, ministry, sin, man, and future things.

3. Read the passage through carefully once for each subject. On your paper or screen, to the right of the subject write what you learn from this passage (and only from this passage) about the subject.

4. Write a personal application (because of what I know about the subject, how should I change or be different) relating to each subject.

We meet in a Sunday School room at the back of the second floor of the First Baptist Church of Perryville, Maryland at 4800 West Pulaski Highway. The easiest place to enter is from the back parking lot. Questions? See the pastor – pastor@perryville.org.
