MISSIONS
The International Mission Board is the largest international mission board operated by independent or denominational churches. They train and coordinate the work of more than 5,000 missionaries working with more than 1,100 people groups throughout the world.
The North American Mission Board fields more than 5,000 missionaries ministering within the United States and Canada as chaplains, church planters, and many other ministries.
Our church’s major international partnership involving members going overseas for short terms is currently in West Africa.
We have learned so much from our partners in Teziutlan, Mexico.
Our church has provided leadership for Pacific Rim ministry.
The North American Mission Board, along with state Baptist convention leaders, has taken the lead in organizing Southern Baptists to respond to disasters using nearly 1,000 mobile units and close to 100,000 trained volunteers. Together they contribute manpower, ministry, and financial help during floods, hurricanes, tornadoes, fires, earthquakes, and urban disasters. NAMB uses disaster relief donations for meeting human needs as a priority and for sharing the Gospel and/or starting churches as part of NAMB’s overall disaster relief ministry once these priorities are met. Southern Baptist Disaster Relief is the third largest disaster relief agency behind the American Red Cross and the Salvation Army. Most meals served by the Red Cross at major disasters have been prepared by Southern Baptist Disaster Relief workers. They are well known as the “yellow hats” who work behind the scenes.
