Six Lies Porn Tells Girls
There is no question that pornography has become mainstream in our culture, with its foul odor detected nearly everywhere. It should go without saying that pornography is one of the deceptive concoctions proffered by Satan, the “father of all lies.” Girls who subject themselves to it are allowing their perspectives and their hearts to be shaped and influenced by at least a half-dozen false premises conveyed through porn. The Cure for Britain’s Epidemic of Sexually Transmitted Infection
In perhaps the most shocking indictment ever made of a section of the U.K.’s National Health Service, the 2003 parliamentary Health Select Committee declared genitourinary medicine to be in a state of meltdown. “We have been appalled by the crisis,” the committee said, adding “we do not use the word ‘crisis’ lightly, but in this case it is appropriate.”1 The committee cited waiting lists of two months, clinics housed in shoddy portable buildings, demoralized staff, and a desperate lack of resources. More than anything, however, the crisis is caused by the UK’s epidemic of sexually-transmitted infections (STIs). (more…)

The Disastrous Roots of Modern Sex Education—SIECUS, 1964-present

In 1964, Dr. Mary Calderone resigned her position as the medical director for Planned Parenthood of America. Having come to believe the nation needed an organization concerned solely with educating it about sexual issues, she rented a New York office and established the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States, or SIECUS. It was an optimistic name for a group that could boast only five members, a secretary, and a single typewriter, but Calderone soon drew together an army of influential allies and set about liberating Americans from their outdated beliefs about sexuality, especially those derived from the Bible and Judeo-Christian morality. Today, SIECUS is the largest clearinghouse of sex-education curricula to America’s public schools.1 (more…)

Son of Hamas Leader Accepts Christ

Masab Yousef, the son of West Bank Hamas Leader Sheik Hassan Yousef, one of the most popular West Bank leaders, revealed last week in an interview with Haaretz newspaper that he left Islam and is now a Christian. Yousef’s family did not know that he had converted to Christianity prior to the publication of the interview, even though Yousef says he talks with his family regularly, so the article was a big surprise to them. The Deadening Effect of Atheism— by David Bentley Hart

David Bentley Hart is an Eastern Orthodox theologian, who has contributed articles to such publications as The Wall Street Journal, The New Atlantis, First Things, and Touchstone. His book, The Beauty of the Infinite: The Aesthetics of Christian Truth,1 is a repudiation of postmodernism.
In this selection from a piece Hart wrote for The New Criterion, he exposes a great lie of this age, namely that movement away from religion is movement toward ecstatic liberation, glad communion with nature, and a flowering of the personality. Nothing could be further from the truth. The one who denies God loses access to the true source of wonder, joy, and life-giving understanding. (more…)

PART 5: Mormon evidence?

EDITORS’ NOTE: The following information, adapted from the North American Mission Board’s www.4truth.net apologetics website, is the fifth of six parts to be carried by Baptist Press. The initial article appeared in Baptist Press Mon., Dec. 10.ALPHARETTA, Ga. (BP)–So, what evidence is there that Mormonism is true? While Mormon scholars admit valid challenges to Mormonism from archaeology and the Book of Abraham, they say the evidences of Mormonism’s truthfulness are the Book of Mormon itself, God’s confirmation in your spirit, and the number of changed lives.
