What’s Wrong with Bribery?

The Sovereign Will of the Majority?—John Quincy Adams (1767 – 1848)
From June 8 to July 27, 1791, twenty-four-year-old John Quincy Adams—future President of the United States—published a series of eleven articles in the Columbian Centinel. Rejecting Thomas Paine’s doctrine that “that which a nation chuses [sic] to do, it has a right to do,” Adams appealed to a higher authority and warned against the tyranny of the majority. (more…)

Tyranny of Tolerance
Is the U.S. Flag Offensive?
The two students were minding their own business — just sitting at a table on a school break, chatting with their friends. And then the vice principal of the school walked up to the boys — and ordered them to remove their American flag bandanas. Their T-shirts also featured the Stars and Stripes. I Can So I Will
Jessica Barker seems to have it all. Oxford University educated, her job as a City of London headhunter gives her a large disposable income to enjoy with her friends. Trunk or Treat
Trunk or Treat will be held at the First Baptist Church of Perryville on October 23 at 5-8pm. What a fun time we had last year. So many creative and fun decorated trunks. Children walk around to each trunk and get a treat. This year there will be a game set up by each trunk for the children to play. (more…)
